Toy Story 5 Teaser Pits The Beloved Duo Against a Tablet Computer

Exactly 30 anniversary since the original Toy Story film debuted, launching Pixar as a leading animation studio and bringing audiences to beloved figures like Woody (Tom Hanks) and the space ranger (Tim Allen), who are now household names.

In 2026, the next chapter is set to arrive. The first teaser trailer for Toy Story 5 landed recently, offering a glimpse into the storyline but leaving viewers wondering how it will address the ending of Toy Story 4.

The Latest Addition: A Digital Device Frightens the Gang

The preview reveals the young girl — who inherited Andy's toys when he grew up — getting a latest toy, one that alarms Woody, Buzz, and the crew. Bonnie acquires her first tablet computer, and she is excited about it.

Theoretically, the amphibian-inspired device will come to life just like the rest of her playthings. Still, the characters seem to view it as a danger coming to replace them, which it likely will.

Woody's Return: Mysteries from Toy Story 4

One thing the trailer avoids is why Woody is returned with his companions in Bonnie's room. The end of Toy Story 4 depicted him set off on a new adventure with Bo Peep (Annie Potts), journeying with a fair and helping giveaway items locate loving owners.

Surely, the filmmakers will address the aftermath of Toy Story 4 in the movie. Witnessing him show up in the familiar setting unexpectedly is a little strange, however. It also makes us wonder whether Bo Peep will have returned with Woody. And where is Duke Caboom (the star)?

Connections from the Previous Film

Fortunately, some aspects are carrying over from the earlier movie. The last thing the cowboy did before setting off for his new life was pass his symbol of authority to Jessie (the voice actor), leaving her as the leader of Bonnie's bedroom. The clip displays the insignia attached to her outfit.

Hopefully she is remains the driving force among the toys.

Toy Story 5 arrives in theaters on the scheduled date.
