This week, Indonesian leader Prabowo Subianto believed he was a private conversation with American leader Donald Trump at the Gaza peace summit in Egypt.
Instead, a hot-mic incident revealed Prabowo asking Trump to arrange a call with his son Eric, who hold positions at the Trump organization.
This was just one in a series of gaffes made by international figures thinking no one can hear them.

Transplant Procedures and Everlasting Life
During a defense ceremony in Beijing this September, Chinese President Xi Jinping and Russian President Vladimir Putin were recorded talking about organ replacement as a method for extending lifespan.
"Human organs can be repeatedly transplanted. The more you extend your life, the younger you become, and you can even reach eternal life," the Russian translator was recorded stating.
Xi, who was not visible, answered in Chinese: "Experts forecast that in the current era humans may reach 150 years old."

'Water Lapping at Your Door'
Former Australian border protection chief Peter Dutton came under fire in 2015 when he made light about the plight of residents in the Pacific facing ocean encroachment.
Dutton was speaking to former PM Tony Abbott, who had recently come back from environmental talks with Pacific Island leaders in Port Moresby.
Noting that a meeting about refugees was running on "delayed schedule", Abbott replied: "We had a bit of that up in Port Moresby."
Dutton commented: "Time doesn't mean anything when you're about to have the ocean reaching your home."
These remarks provoked anger from regional nations and climate activists, while the political opponents demanded Dutton to apologise.

'Prejudiced Voter'
As Labour prime minister Gordon Brown was campaigning in 2010, he faced a constituent who challenged him on immigration and the economy.
Remaining connected to a broadcast microphone when he got into his vehicle, Brown was recorded stating: "That went terribly β they should never have put me with that individual. Who thought of that? Absurd."
When questioned about she had said, he answered: "Everything, she was just a bigoted woman."
This incident received extensive coverage for an extended period and Brown ultimately lost the political race.
'I Cannot Bear Netanyahu. He Lies.'
Former US president Barack Obama was in conversation at the international conference in Cannes in 2011 with France's leader Nicolas Sarkozy when their remarks about Israeli leader Benjamin Netanyahu were captured by a live microphone.
Sarkozy said: "I can't stand Netanyahu. He deceives."
According to a account from a translator cited by Reuters, Obama responded: "You've had enough but I have to deal with him frequently than you."
'Major League ***hole'
A classic hot-mic moment from then US presidential candidate George W. Bush happened as he made a negative comment about a reporter from The New York Times.
The GOP candidate was didn't realize that a recording device was active when he leaned over to Dick Cheney at a Labor Day rally and remarked, "That's Adam Clymer, complete jerk from the New York Times."
Cheney answered: "Absolutely, that's true, definitely."
