Shocking Footage Shows Point Officers Are Stabbed in Unexpected Assault
One police sergeant who jumped to the help of a fellow officer who was ambushed by a knife attacker received the Royal Recognition for Valor.
Sergeant Tim Ansell fought with twenty-seven-year-old Jacob Brown subsequent to he held a knife to the neck of his partner Sergeant Marc Foster.
Brown began the violence as the officers and their third officer, PC Marcus Wolstencroft, were talking to a motorist following a vehicle incident in that location in July 2023.
Brown stabbed and slashed both Sgt Ansell and Sgt Foster before PC Wolstencroft stunned him with a stun gun.
"Officer stabbed," PC Wolstencroft could be heard saying over his radio.
Officer-mounted and dashcam video released by the agency revealed Brown, who was dressed in black with a head covered, rush to Sgt Foster from the rear with a knife pointed forward.
He collided with the officer who stumbled and went down to the pavement, after which Sgt Ansell stepped in and struggled to restrain him to the pavement even though being multiple times hit with the knife.
Police Constable Wolstencroft drew his Taser and awaited a open target, concluding the confrontation to an end.
Sergeant Ansell was heard stating: "I need assistance on my neck here, I got knifed in the throat."
Sgt Ansell sustained two deep cuts to his neck and additional injuries to his limbs and torso, while Sgt Foster experienced slash wounds.
Authorities reported Sergeant Foster used his bare hands to control his colleague's blood loss prior to medical personnel reached the scene.
The latest award comes after the law enforcement team won internal Courage Honors in October 2023 and the police federation award from the local union branch in early 2024.
They further earned a Regional Valor Recognition in July 2024.
"The responses of all three officers ultimately protected each other and ensured no civilians experienced any wounds."
Brown received a sentence to an indefinite hospital order in early 2024, according to officials.
