Indianapolis Colts Battle Atlanta Falcons in Berlin – Week 10 NFL Action
Hello, fussball fans. How are you? Everything good I hope on this fine morning kickoff to the tenth week coming straight outta Deutschland. The Olympiastadion in Berlin to be precise where at 8.30am CST/9.30am EST and 2.30pm GMT the mighty Colts (seven wins and two losses) take on the Falcons (3-5). This marks the fifth matchup played on soil in Germany and the first in the nation’s capital.
Pre-match Highlights
When it comes to glittering attire that is an absolute belter from the Olympic figure skater on the opening flip. A slight fluff from the broadcast team there as we hear “which team got the coin flip?” from the presenter with an unfortunately hot mic.
Well, the Colts have won the toss and have chosen to get the ball first. The Colts' offense will be taking the field soon. Will the QB bounce back after a rough one in their last game?
Not to be outdone the vocalist performing the US national anthem has some of the largest shoulder pads you are bound to notice. The fashion picks are impressive today. We are almost underway after a choral number for the German anthem. Elegant.
First Quarter Gameplay
Scoreless at 13:30 in the first
Here we go! And we have an exciting start after the Colts running back receives a short throw, gains 15 yards on the outside to the right then loses the ball … only for his offensive lineman to recover the fumble with the ball retrieval. Colts are in Falcons territory already.
Still scoreless at 10:51
And the drama keeps coming as the Colts go for it on 4th down. The gamble fails to pay off as the wide receiver fails to catch a quick pass from the quarterback. Prior to the failed attempt Jessie Bates put a massive tackle on tight end Mo Alie-Cox. The Falcons have come out fighting on defense as they try and snap their string of three losses. Following that, Sauce Gardner makes his first appearance!
Score Recap
First score: Colts lead 6-0 at 8:36
Did Kyle Pitts just drop a touchdown? The Falcons player makes a crucial error, he was very open but the ball just slips through his grasp. That moment reflects the high draft pick's professional journey to date.
A disappointing start but it only gets worse for the Falcons as they turn over possession to the Indianapolis on the 23-yard mark. The Falcons quarterback is hunted down and can’t keep hold of the ball.
An agile 22-yard rush from Ashton Dulin sets the running back up to easily run for a touchdown on the next snap. Kicker Michael Badgley skews the extra point wide. Oops.
TOUCHDOWN! Colts 6-7 Falcons 6:07, 1st quarter
The quarterback recovers from the turnover by marching his Falcons down the field for a touchdown. The wide receiver makes some substantial catches to put them in the scoring area then the seas part for the running back to run untouched into the end zone through the middle of the defense for 13 yards. He completes the drive for a short scoring run of his own. The Falcons take the lead.
Additional Tenth Week Matchups
Additionally, the jumbo package starting at 1 PM EST and 6 PM GMT (with home teams first) is as follows:
(5-4) Panthers v Saints (1-8)
(5-3) Chicago Bears v Giants (2-7)
(3-5) Houston Texans v Jacksonville Jaguars (5-3)
(2-7) Dolphins v Bills (6-2)
(4-4) Minnesota Vikings v Baltimore Ravens (3-5)
(1-7) New York Jets v Browns (2-6)
(6-2) Tampa Bay Buccaneers v Patriots (7-2)
What a feast. My pick for the best game is the Vikings and Ravens playing out the top contest of the day.
